This 4,000-square-foot loft for a young couple is located on lower Fifth Avenue. Services and storage are organized into compact blocks that separate the living/dining space from the bedrooms and home offices. These highly articulated, modern blocks contrast with the "found" exterior wall where we restored the original steel windows and finished the wall with a mottled plaster finish. Other spaces like the corner sitting area are implied through slight changes in floor level. A sliding glass exterior wall system allows the north wall of the loft to open onto a roof terrace with spectacular views of the empire state building and environs.
