Judd House Museum
Master Plan & StabilizationNew York, New York
Our Master Plan explored the challenges of converting the former residence and art studio of artist Donald Judd into a house museum. The project involved working with engineers at Arup Fire to develop non-evasive strategies for preserving the existing art and making the building safe and code-compliant, while maintaining the extraordinary character of the place where Judd lived and worked. Our work included stabilizing the building and sidewalk vaults and negotiating a life safety strategy with the Building Department. The Master Plan outlined a preservation strategy for the building and re-programmed various parts of the building for museum uses.
