At Trinity Church Wall Street, we have encountered several missing or damaged pieces of ornamental plaster. These are recreated by finding a matching section of plaster on a different arch, casting a mold over the existing plaster and then casting the new piece. The replacements are then pinned back to the building, and a “dob” of plaster and burlap is applied to hold it in place.
