Sutton Place Synagogue

In the first step of our multi-phase master plan, MBB renovated the front of the sanctuary at Sutton Place Synagogue as an accelerated summer project. To create a better worship experience not only on high holy days but every day of the year, the interventions improved the performance of the space and introduced new flexibility to support the programming and mission at Sutton Place Synagogue. Existing pews were removed and replaced with flexible seating that is reconfigured for the high holy days. A new bimah was constructed with a removable low bimah platform to bring the clergy closer to the congregation when the sanctuary is not at full capacity. An accessible reading table and hearing aid loop improve accessibility while new finishes, lighting, acoustic treatments and AV systems greatly improve the worship experience.
