School of Theology, University of the South

MBB is designing a complete renovation of Hamilton Hall, home to the School of Theology at University of the South.

Following feasibility and planning studies also conducted by MBB, the renovation transforms an outmoded facility, originally built in the 1960s for the ROTC, into a contemporary learning environment that support the school’s needs. Working with academic and facilities leaders, MBB redesigned the auditorium, study rooms, classrooms, and corridors to reflect the school’s identity. The design takes full advantage of the available ceiling height to create more gracious spaces and bring more daylight inside. It also improves indoor-outdoor connection with the garden courtyard.

New, accessible entrances include ramps concealed within new planted terraces, a new glass curtain wall and exterior lighting. Energy efficiency is improved via upgraded building systems, insulated windows and additional roof insulation.
